Sustainability
Incorporating several sustainability features, the Peak Design Travel Duffel earns Better Trail Certified distinction. The duffel’s exterior fabric is 100% recycled and solution dyed, which uses less water and energy than traditional dyeing methods. The exterior, interior, and bottom fabrics and webbing are also Bluesign approved. Additionally, select versions of the duffel feature more low-impact materials. The Coyote colorway uses fabric sourced from recycled fishing nets, and the Sage colorway contains Leather Working Group-certified leather accents. Finally, all versions of the duffel have PFAS-free durable water-repellent treatments and are manufactured in Fair Trade Certified facilities.
Peak Design centers sustainability at the brand level, co-founding The Change Climate Project in 2019 and earning The Climate Label from the organization in 2020. As a Climate Label-certified brand, Peak Design funds carbon-reduction projects equivalent to its emissions and pursues emissions reduction goals. It also publishes an annual impact report that details its carbon footprint and sustainability initiatives. While Peak Design formerly operated a resale service, it ended its peer-to-peer program for used items in 2025. (It still sells overstock, open-box, and refurbished products on the platform and offers repair services under its limited-lifetime warranty, though.) Peak Design also manufactures many of its products in Fair Trade Certified facilities and is working towards certifying 100% of its Tier 1 factories.
Below, we break down in detail the sustainability attributes of the Travel Duffel (which is available in 35-, 50-, 65-, and 80-liter capacities), including brand- and product-level information as well as links to in-depth articles on relevant topics.
