Sustainability
Updated:
Oct 22, 2025The Osprey Glade 12 is one of the highest-rated ski packs in our lineup for sustainability. It’s made entirely with 100% recycled nylon across the outer, lining, and bottom fabrics. All of these fabrics are also Bluesign approved, and the Glade is a Bluesign Product, meaning at least 90% of its fabrics and 20% of its accessories are Bluesign approved. On top of that, the pack is treated with a PFAS-free durable water repellent, offering water resistance without the use of forever chemicals.
At the brand level, Osprey is making notable strides in sustainability. Osprey offers comprehensive repair services through its All Mighty Guarantee, repairing any damage or defect free of charge—or replacing the product if it can’t be fixed. For packaging, the company uses 100% recycled poly bags and recycled or Forest Stewardship Council-certified tags. Its parent company, Helen of Troy, tracks greenhouse gas emissions using the Higg Index and has set Science Based Targets Initiative-verified reduction goals. Helen of Troy publishes that information in its annual environmental, social, and governance report. The only gaps in Osprey’s sustainability efforts are the lack of resale or recycling services for backpacks and the absence of responsible manufacturing initiatives.
Below we break down in detail all of the Glade's sustainability attributes at the product and brand level, including links to in-depth articles on relevant topics. For more, see our guide to the best ski backpacks and our review of the Glade 12.
