Sustainability

Mar 09, 2026The Nemo Disco is a top-rated sleeping bag for sustainability and boasts plenty of product-level features. First off, its shell and lining fabrics are 100% recycled ripstop polyester. The Disco’s down insulation is certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), and its durable water-repellent (DWR) finish is PFAS free. Additionally, the down features a PFAS-free hydrophobic treatment. One drawback is that the Disco does not incorporate any Bluesign-approved materials. However, as part of Nemo’s Endless Promise collection, this sleeping bag is 100% recyclable at the end of its life. Simply send it back to Nemo, and the company will handle the rest.
As a company, Nemo is making strides to decrease the impact of its business. Nemo partners with Out&Back, a resale platform that provides an easy way for customers to sell their used products and keep them out of landfills. As proof of its commitment to product longevity, Nemo also offers comprehensive repair services regardless of warranty status. Additionally, the company tracks its greenhouse gas emissions and publishes an annual impact report detailing its reduction efforts and sustainability initiatives. Lastly, Nemo uses predominantly recycled plastic in all of its packaging.
Below we break down in detail all of the Disco 30's sustainability attributes at the product and brand level, including links to in-depth articles on relevant topics. For more, see our guide to the best backpacking sleeping bags and our review of the Disco 30.
