Matt calls Denver, Colorado, home, spending his summers on off-trail routes in the high alpine of Southwest Colorado and his shoulder seasons dropping into the canyon country of the Colorado Plateau. A mechanical engineer by trade, Matt has spent the last decade designing and developing gear for the outdoors. He also puts a ton of time in the backcountry: he and his partner Jade recently wrapped a year-long working holiday in New Zealand, completing over 1,000 miles of hiking, including the South Island's Te Araroa, and visiting more than 130 backcountry huts along the way. Matt's heaviest luxury item—and the one he'd never leave behind—is his camera, which he hauls on every backpacking, canyoneering, hut trip, and mountain bike ride.
